Full body harnesses
The harness carries the load when someone falls. A full body harness spreads it over the thighs, the chest and the shoulders, which is why a waist belt on its own is not fall protection.

Lanyards and shock absorbers
Two things decide which lanyard you need: the distance you would fall before the system catches you, and whether you have to be attached at all times. A twin lanyard lets someone stay attached while moving from one anchor point to the next, which is what tower and structure work asks for. A shock absorber is what keeps the arrested fall survivable, and it has to be included in the fall clearance sum.
Fall arrest blocks
A self retracting lifeline, usually called a fall arrest block, keeps the line short at all times and locks when it is pulled fast. That shortens the fall, which matters where there is little clearance below the worker. Blocks differ in length and in edge rating, so say what the person stands on and what is below.
Anchor points
The whole system is only as good as what it hangs from. Anchor points are either fixed to the structure or temporary, such as a beam clamp or a strap around a suitable member. For a confined space, the anchor is normally a tripod over the opening, and that is on the confined space equipment page. Inspection, and what happens after a fall
After any fall, the harness and the lanyard go out of service immediately, even when nothing looks damaged, because the shock absorber has done its work. The schedule for the routine inspection comes from the manufacturer's own instruction for the model, and a shorter interval applies where the equipment takes heat, chemicals or abrasion. Malaysia has no single inspection interval that covers every harness on every site, so your own procedure decides the rest. Does a harness have to be replaced after a fall?
